Today we did Relief on Canvas with Air Dry Clay with Doug Arnot. He supplied canvasses, palette knives, and the air dry clay. But first, we have to have a bit of show and share:

Elaine brought this painting in for us to see before the new owners come to pick it up. It is a combination of acrylic paint and collage. It is about 48″ wide and about 30″ tall. Again Elaine’s combination of media has resulted in a terrific piece! It will be well-enjoyed in its new home!

Brenda said she’s really been enjoying drawing and Zentangle more this year, and it really shows with this “Easter Bunny”!

We can’t believe that Josanna was going to paint over this to use for the relief class today, but we stopped her! And actually Jan took it home with her and has the perfect place on her wall for it!
Now on to the Relief Class!

Doug prepared the air dry clay using baking soda, white glue, white acrylic paint and water to loosen it up to a workable consistency. We worked on canvasses, many of them he’d painted over and we reused them or brought our own blank canvasses.
Here are our initial works in progress:

And then some a little further along:

Next week we’ll do Collage with Olivia, and the week after Jossana will do Colour Theory!
