New Season Starts – Dec 1, 2025

We stared off the 2025-2026 season on Monday, December 1st. We had a small group but we had a productive first session and enjoyed catching up with those that were there. We made some decisions / suggestions about things we’d like to do in our classes this season.

We also brought a few of our Summer Homework items for display, and also, scroll back and see the Summer Homework post. This years’ theme was “Something you see out your window”.

Brenda brought in this terrific Zentangle portraying a bird and nest that she saw out her window! Awesome Brenda!

Next was Terri’s black and white depictions of some of the figures from artifacts (pottery, drawings, weavings) that are found in her local Native American community in New Mexico. Really cool and love the format and the bright green frame!

The Frida painting was Terri’s summer homework from the previous summer that made its way into Kimmer’s collection. Kimmer brought it in to show the cool frame that she found for the piece that not only accentuates the Frida but also with the decor theme in her home here in San Carlos.

Doug also brought his homework in. This view is partially his view from his patio in the Bahia here in San Carlos, and partly an homage to the mountains near his former home of Calgary, Alberta. Wonderful blend of his “views” and a great piece!

Lisa didn’t bring her summer homework in because it is already mounted into their outdoor kitchen area at her home in San Carlos. This is partly her view from her studio windows and partly the view when they’re at the beach watching dolphins!

We also chose our December 8th class and Lisa will lead us through a Zentangle session.

Terri also talked about a pencil piece she’s been working on of her dog, Chica. She hadn’t completed the background yet and recalled that she had a product called Dura-Lar which allows you to paint your background onto it and overlay it to see if you like the effect and colours. Below is a photo of the material for reference.
