February 26 – Elegant Writer and Open Studio

We spent a bit of time going over a few business items, including signing up for our March 23 Show at Tecalai. We had some show and share of a few past weeks’ projects and dolphins for Seguro y Sana.

Lisa’s seahorse acrylic pour / swipe, and the bowl and plate she did for the upcoming fundraiser on March 2nd at Deportivo. Terri’s most recent dolphinwith asian rice paper painted with watercolours and accents, and then two pieces that she did on yupo paper to show what you can do with watercolours on it.

These three are all Ray’s! She had difficulty with getting acrylic paint to stick to the ceramic, so she did a collage type effect using greeting cards, glue and nail polish. Can’t believe the results! Her dolphin was also done using many layers of paper and glitter. And last but not least, the shell painting is what she came out of the workshop with Jody Rigsby! Love the soothing effect and the frame is perfect!

The dolphin is Brenda’s (new to us this season Brenda!) and then a couple photos of both Brendas playing with the Elegant Writer pens.

We watched a short video by Karlyn Holman and how to use the Elegan Writer pens, originally for Calligraphy, but they have a cool effect when you draw with them and use water to bleed the marker, which is specifically designed to do so.

Marilyn, Ray and Lisa playing with the Elegant Writers.

Then after we’d played with the Elegant Writer pens we did some open studio. Lisa was working on a Zentangle Chameleon and Mindy saw this and ran home to pick up some prints that she had that she was embellishing and thought some of us would enjoy doing as well. Above are the two that Mindy had embellished, originally started off with white canvas and black print. Mindy’s thought was to use all these embellished pieces that we do as another fundraiser for Seguro y Sana! Look forward to seeing what we all come up with! Some of us got boots, some got saddles!

Not sure what our March 4 session will be yet, but keep your eyes peeled for Cindy’s demo on March 11th. Details TBD!

And last, but not least, here is a new piece from Elaine! Paint and Collage, and who knows what else! Her pieces are always a treat!
