Today Brenda did a glue gun demo to provide texture and interest on a piece prior to painting. She came prepared with some pre-drawn boards and some cardboard for those that wanted to practice first, and we just went to town!
Also, a few people brought items for us to see:

On the left is Karen using Granulation in a wash to create the flow effect. She said that it is difficult to not wash off your cool granulation while getting it to flow. Turned out really cool! On the right, Kim brought in the relief that she did during Doug’s glue and baking soda relief class. She was looking for input as she feels it isn’t done yet, but we all thought it was great!

Here Brenda showed us what she does to apply the glue.

Brenda also had seen quite a few examples on the internet, she suggested Googling “glue gun art ideas” if we’d like to try more. She showed us the above one that the artist used the glue to create the trees and the deer and then she did a pour over it and added white after to accentuate the winter scene. Then we all got to work and the room went very quiet! Which means we were all focussed on the task at hand! A very difficult thing to do with all the ladies in the group (and Doug) as we’re always chatting! Here are a few progress shots:

We really look forward to seeing how they look next week! Make sure to bring your pieces in for us to see! Above Doug was being a rebel using his palette knife!
Next week we will do some show prep and then we’ll have Open Studio, just in case anyone needs an hour or two to finish things up for the show on the 21st.
