So today was our last meeting of the season. We mostly debriefed about the season, talked a bit about ideas for next year and some about last week’s w/c session.
Terri brought in a watercolor that she did on canvas a while ago to show how you can adapt watercolor to other surfaces. She said it makes her crazy, but we say, good work!

We also decided upon a theme for this summer’s homework after discussion about a few options. Ideas included doing: a Master; Abstract; something that represents where you’re from; and what you see outside of your window.
The winner for this season was: “What you see outside of your Window” is our summer homework, which will result in a wide variety of results! If you’re struggling for an idea with this theme try googling: “what you see outside your window art”! Lots of ideas there!
Looking forward to seeing them over the summer and in the fall. Email them to Terri and we’ll post them on the website every month!
We also had a few people bring in items for discussion / show and share:

Brenda did this acrylic this week and wanted some advice. Discussion about grounding; perhaps a wash to tone down greenness; some more detail on the foremost Saguaros to bring them forward and give more depth; and other ideas were discussed. Looking forward to how Brenda incorporates these thoughts into her piece.

Elaine has done another wonderful papier mache bowl!

Wayne is learning how to use his pastel pencils, he is quite pleased with the vibrancy and detail he can achieve, although he said that you can’t fix mistakes with the pastel pencils like you can with colored pencils. The photo on the right is a nose with colored pencils and the left is pastel pencils, quite a difference! Looking forward to seeing Wayne develop his skills with this new to him medium!

Doug started work on an oil painting today. Coming along nicely! Look forward to seeing the finished piece soon!

We also finalized our donations for this year. This is Lynn receiving the donation for Seguro y Sana to help with all the fabulous work that organization is doing to try to help women in our community.

Lynn also showed us a watercolor paper block that she likes that is more affordable than Arches. Thought we’d post it here so members can recall what it is.
Terri also reminded us of one of our main goals in our art group is to foster good relationships and support each other in our art journey:

We had an amazing season and welcomed quite a few new faces, while missing a number of members who were no longer able to come to meetings or shows: Irene Rizner, Myrna Porlier, Ray Mahoney to name a few. We missed you this year and wish you all the best!
First meeting of the 2025-2026 (wow!) season will be on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at the Tecalai Clubhouse. Have a good summer, drive safely to your other homes and get creative!
WOW!!! Great write up and photos. You’ve got a mind like a steel trap. Good job. Thanks again, T💛
