Today Ben walked us through his methodology for laying out a portrait using time-honoured proportion techniques and how he lays in eyes, nose, mouth, brows and ears. Great information and reminded many of us about the basics for drawing!

Ben also provided us with his drawing guidelines with notes on it!

Then Wayne walked us through his journey with coloured pencils, including: qualities of pencils, some softer than others, some more blendable, etc.; types of paper that work best for coloured pencil art; and the other tools that he uses. We can all agree that Wayne has developed his skills in a very short time and we all appreciate his results.

Wayne and Ben also brought in a few of their finished pieces for us to see:

Giraffe and Horse by Wayne, and Portrait by Ben. Ben did the framing on his portrait as well as Wayne’s two pieces.
We also had a few items for show and share:

Another wonderful Kimmer creation for Seguro y Sana’s Dolphin project, and Brenda’s teal door. Ben also framed this piece for her!

Mary brought in her fused glass project that she recently did at Creaciones, she embellished the bones with some vines and small flowers. Brenda didn’t specifically bring these poppies in for show and share, I took the photo on the shy. She created this after the one-stroke session a few weeks ago and it turned out awesome!
Next week we’ve just confirmed that Doug is going to lead us through Perspective with an interactive session. We always enjoy these workshops because they force us to work on our drawing skills and perspective is a struggle for many of us. Looking forward to it!
