Today Vicki led us through the basics of completing a Zentangle Tile with four patterns. Some members had been in her class before and some hadn’t so there was quite a variety in what all of us knew about Zentangle. Vicki started off with a bit of education about the origins of the Art and some inspiration from her favourite book.

Above are a few samples of Vicki’s Zentangle Inspired Art.

This book is a good starter book. Below are photos of the patterns that Vicki led us through, well, three of them, the fourth is another pattern, Henna Drum, that she loves that came from another source. The internet is full of Zentangle patterns, you can lose yourself for hours looking at all of them!

Below is a photo of all of our tiles, you can see how each person has interpreted the method and the patterns in many ways, which is one of the best things to see! We all interpret Art differently and no two people see things the same way!

We also had a few pieces brought in for us to enjoy:

Two Yaqui Indian Zentangle pieces that Kimmer completed, we were lucky enough to see her progress on these last season.

Doug brought in two landscapes that he completed in Acrylic. He preferred medium is Oils, however, he has yet to locate all his supplies after his move down to San Carlos in September.

Ben has gotten down to work and these pieces are great!

Olivia brought in the finished pieces that she had started during her Oil Pastels demo last week.

A very cute and great little Frida in a shell that Cindy did, she’s been quite into shells and sea glass lately!
Excellent, lisa. T
