First Meeting of the Season – Dec 2, 2024 – Frida Summer Homework projects

Today was our first meeting of the season. We had a few new faces and discovered that several of our long-standing members were not going to be returning as they had moved back North, they will be missed…

We did have a number of our Weird Frida summer homework pieces brought in for us to enjoy today:

Elaine’s multi media / collage of Frida turned out great! Kimmer isn’t here yet, but her husband, Peter, brought in her Frida. As usual, Kimmer’s take is always fun and brings her into the present! Great work both of you!

Here are Terri and Brenda’s Fridas. Terri’s is watercolour, acrylic and black pen. She said that some have commented that it kind of has a Prince vibe to it as well. Brenda used Zentangle and pen work to bring her Frida to life. Love the Birds and the Mexican flair!

Teresa brought in a couple Fridas that she did, one in B/W, one with a very Zentangle feel to it, and a new surprise were the earrings and Calaca, all of which are done using discarded compact discs! Looking forward to learning more about how she does that!

This is Lisa’s Frida done in Glass and Colleen’s Frida, which turned out great! Has a cubist kind of feel to it!

Mary wasn’t here today, but here is her Picasso Frida that we posted in one of our summer blogs for you. And here is another mosaic dolphin for the Seguro y Sana project that Lisa brought in for us to see as well.

Looking forward to welcoming more returning and new members next week, and hopefully some more Fridas. See you on the 9th at 9:00 a.m.!
