Today was our last meeting for the season ;( (sad face)…
We reviewed the March 23 show, and decided to try to do the Spring show a little earlier in March, Terri will be in contact with Rescate especially so we don’t overlap with the Grand Bazaar in the Spring.
We all felt the number of visitors was lower and sales were a bit down. We did manage to get all the raffle prizes distributed and everyone that came for their pieces this morning were quite happy!

Brenda brought a couple items for us to see. One being the Boxer papier mache coconut shell she’s been working on for her daughter and the other from the Alcohol Ink class that was held at Deportivo last week.

We talked about what we liked about this season’s offerings and discussed what we’d like to do next season. So far we have: Papier Mache with Elaine; Pastels with Olivia; Alcohol Ink with Brenda and Claudia; One Stroke Painting with Lisa; hopefully a Zentangle with Victoria (Kimmer advises that she has a rental in place for next season so fingers crossed!). Interest was also expressed for a session about choosing Framing and Matting so some videos are planned for that. Terri is hopeful to maybe get KC Jones in for another session next season as well, the group preferred for a session where we paint something.
We also voted on how our excess funds would be donated and decided because they were lower this year (fewer members and lower show revenues) that we would make one larger donation this year. We hope that our contribution will help the elderly people at the Cobijo.
Watch for Terri’s emails over the summer for supply lists for upcoming projects, and if anyone wants to do a session let her know!
We also chose a Summer Project – Frida Kahlo inspired works, either our take on a portrait of Frida or one of her popular works, should be a blast to see what comes out of this in the Fall! Here’s a sample of “Me and my Parrots” for inspiration.

Keep sending photos of your pieces over the Summer! Terri will send them to me for the website, it’s always great to see what everyone is up to over the summer.
Finally we want to thank Terri for her leadership, planning, for coordinating our sessions, art shows, and for putting up with us and sometimes our incessant chatter, and lots of other things; Brenda for taking care of our finances and refreshments, and lots of other things; Lisa for the website and taking care of the library, meeting set up, and other stuff; and finally a big thanks to the members that provided us with sessions and inspiration over this past season. With everyone pitching in and contributing it helps our group be successful and fun!
Have a great summer, take care and see you in the Fall!
This week Terri finished painting the Virgin of Guadalupe statuette that a friend had asked her to paint for them:
